Artwork Commission for Glenorchy City Council Reconciliation Action Plan EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

Glenorchy City Council is seeking to commission an artist to create a unique artwork for use on the cover of their Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan. Through this commission, alongside council’s reconciliation journey, we seek to celebrate Aboriginal culture with the broader community and give a strong visual identity to the beginning of council’s reconciliation journey.

Who can apply

The artist must be an Aboriginal artist based in lutruwita (Tasmania). A connection to the Glenorchy area is preferable but not required.

Emerging artists and artist collaborations are welcome to apply.

Artworks in any visual art medium are welcome, eg. Painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, digital art, sculpture, ceramic, textiles, etc. The artist will be supported to translate their artwork to a 2D format for use on the Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan documents and associated material.

Fees

The final selected artist will receive a fee of $10,000.

The final artist will be selected from two shortlisted artists. Shortlisted artists will receive a fee of $1000 to develop an initial artwork concept to be pitched for the final commission opportunity.

Deadline for submissions

Initial expressions of interest through the online form are due by Tuesday 30th May.

Shortlisted artists will be notified by Friday 16th June.

Shortlisted artists will present artwork concepts by Friday 30th June.

Final artwork to be completed by Friday 11th August.
